Send a Friend Some Shares

Here at WeSeed, we’re all about learning by doing. That’s why we want everyone to buy and sell stocks on the site—whether you win or lose, you’ll learn something. And the more you know…

Joel and I were having a conversation the other day on our Podcast Test Run (more on that on another post) and he brought up how WeSeed is kinda similar to fantasy sports

I think it’s a great point. Think about it: how many people out there learn everything there is to know about a player just by having him on their fantasy team? Tons. I’ve seen Red Sox fans cheering Derek Jeter on. When I ask them what the heck’s going on, they answer with the classic, “But he’s on my fantasy team.”

That’s the power that fantasy sports: a Red Sox fan cheering on Mr. Yankee.

But anyway, I’m getting off point here. The idea is that if you add a company to your portfolio, you’re likely going to watch it like a hawk—whether it goes up or down.

So why not send a friend some shares of a company to get them started on WeSeed? You can send shares to friends that haven’t joined the awesome party that is WeSeed or friends that are already on the site (smart cookies).

Here’s how you do it:

That’ll take you to this box:

From here it’s pretty self explanatory. Type in your friend’s email address (use a comma between emails if you’re sending to a bunch of people) and a pithy little message underneath.

Here are some suggestions:

  • Stock up sucka!
  • Here is some stock. Hope you get smarter.
  • Stock Rocks!

Feel free to ignore them, no hard feelings. Either way, just type something in so your friend will know it came from you and not from some robot server in the Ukraine or something.

Then in the box on the right you can type out the ticker or company name of the stock you want to send. Our nifty little program will try to find it and shoot back some results:

To add the stock, just click on the orange plus sign and it’ll be added to your “basket.” Add as much stock as you like and when you’re ready to go click send.

Then sit back and enjoy a job well done.
